Opera has announced several AI-based updates to its browser lineup. Starting today, Opera Neon, Opera One and Opera GX will receive the latest Gemini model with built-in browser AI for free.

Opera AI is a side panel that users can use to interact with web pages, tab groups, images, and videos. It can answer various questions, compare tabs and pages, summarize websites, and analyze photos, videos, and other files. Opera says its new engine for the AI experience is rebuilt on the new architecture of its recently launched proxy browser, Opera Neon. The latter improves responsiveness by 20%.

Per Wetterdal, Executive Vice President of Business at Opera, stated: “AI is reshaping how people interact with the web, and the browser is the natural entry point for those experiences. Through our partnership with Google, we are able to offer users the experiences they really want through native search and AI features, for free, directly in their Opera One and Opera GX browsers while our most advanced users of the agentic Opera Neon browser are already getting access to Gemini 3 Pro.”

According to Opera, integrating AI into the browser is more relevant and efficient than a standalone chat interface because the browser can gain real-time context by accessing tabs, tab content, and the “browser stream.”

Opera added that it respects user privacy, giving them complete control over what information is shared with Opera AI and what should be kept out of their sight. Currently, over 80 million Opera users can use Google’s latest Gemini models for free.
